SLO Village is seeking an Executive Director who has a passion for our mission of supporting older adults to age actively in their own homes and communities. This is a part-time position with flexible hours and schedule. Two weeks paid vacation included. Work from home and/or our office. Salary commensurate with experience.
About Us
SLO Village is an innovative, non-profit organization that connects members with each other and with the resources needed to remain active and independent. Founded in 2016 as a grassroots neighborhood organization, we are recognized as a leader in the national Village Movement. Our members are 50 years of age and older and reside in San Luis Obispo County. We have grown to over 100 members and volunteers, and hundreds of supporters.
Responsibilities
Participates with the Board of Directors in the development of the goals, strategies, and priorities necessary for growth and sustainability.


Working closely with the Board of Directors, assists in the creation and implementation of fundraising letters, annual reports, and necessary documentation to maintain fiscal solvency.


Assists the Board in recruiting and attracting new board members. Serves as a liaison with other nonprofit organizations and the community at large to build community-wide support.


Oversees the staff for day-to-day office operations, working with staff and volunteers to ensure the efficient implementation and documentation of office procedures and data management.


In collaboration with the Treasurer, maintains income and expenditure reports, runs payroll, and provides documentation to the bookkeeper.


Guides the work of operational teams ensuring their effectiveness.


Ensures that their work addresses the goals of the organization and coordinates with the work of other teams.


Encourages wide member participation and the development of new team leaders.


Works with the Volunteer Team to assure that volunteers are recruited, trained, and appreciated to maintain an adequate pool of volunteers.


Actively engages with potential new members to develop an understanding of SLO Village.

Skills
Experience and Education
  • Experience and a desire to work with the senior population strongly recommended
  • A history of local community involvement
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising, grant writing and marketing desired
  • Ability to coordinate events, speaking engagements and publicity
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound fiscal management
  • Self-directed and flexible, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelors or higher degree in a related field strongly recommended
  • Leadership experience with nonprofit organizations and working with boards of directors

Job Type: Part-time (20 Hours per week)
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
